Description:
White, cannellini-shaped beans with brown candle-shape on the hila. Medium-sized bush beans that dry down very quickly and are impervious to rain damage (a characteristic that they share with their sister variety “Golden Gaucho”). Care of the Earth Community Farm harvested White Candle Gaucho beans this season during a 10 day stretch of rain in early August with absolutely no problems with mold or premature sprouting and minimal discoloration. High yield potential. A very, very small percentage of beans will be all brown.. Bred by Carol Deppe by selecting from a recessive mutation present in her original Gaucho population. Thanks and appreciation to Carol Deppe for her breeding work. We got our seedstock from Fedco Seeds. 117 seeds/oz. Grown by Care of the Earth Community Farm.
White Candle Gaucho Bean carries the Open Source Seed Initiative (OSSI) pledge. OSSI is a movement to help combat corporate monopolization of seeds. Read more at www.osseeds.org.
