Description:
Canavalia ensiformis
Jack Beans are excellent cover crops that produce some of the largest bean pods I have seen and are extremely hardy to heat, drought, and insects. The beans are said to be mildly toxic and should not be eaten in large amounts. I have not tried any, yet. It is more of a novelty plant that I grow alongside corn in the heat of summer. They require a long season.
