Growing Practices: No Pesticides No Herbicides No Fungicides No Synthetic Fertilizers

Latin Name: Allium sativum

Days to Maturity: 240

Description:

Purple striped turban with flattened heads and attractive purple and white striped wrappers. Milder variety developed in northern Spain. Eaten raw there is a quick punch of heat, though when roasted it is sweet and buttery. Basque ranked high in our team’s 2023 taste test - could you describe a garlic’s flavor as “cozy”? Average 6 large, easy to peel cloves per head. Earliest to mature of the garlic we grow, sometimes ready to harvest as early as late June. Enjoy or plant by November, as it does not store long.

Growing Tips:

Break into cloves and plant 6" apart in all directions in the fall. Mulch in areas with cold winter and/or dry climates.
