This melon was bred in Ithaca, New York, and does well in the Northeast U.S. It also tends to hold up well in rainy conditions. I'm not familiar enough with growing conditions in Ireland to be able to comment there..

Do you still have Tai Nang 2 melon. I grew it in 2019 in College Park Maryland and it had tremendous flavor, but lost the seedstock.

We're no longer offering Tai Nang 2 because of its bacterial wilt susceptibility. I do still have seedstock though, you can email us about it at commonwealthseeds@gmail.com.

I was able to grow one to seed in 2021. I have also noted the bacterial wilt susceptibility and think it may also be susceptible to fusarium wilt. But it does taste really good. I have noticed cucumber beetles seem to be becoming much less common here in College Park and this is disturbing for ecological reasons.

Answer this question
How do I know when the melon is ready to pick?

Ripe melons turn from green to tan-yellow, and smell very aromatic. Ripe melons also slip off the vine when you press lightly on the vine next to the melon (this is called harvesting at full slip, which is appropriate for Trifecta). Trifecta is a good keeper so you don't have to worry about the melons going bad in the field as long as you check a couple times a week.
