Latin Name: Moringa oleifera
Days to Maturity: Start harvesting in 30 days and continue for years!
Description:
Moringa leaves are a good source of vitamins A and C, as well as calcium, iron, and potassium. The leaves and flowers can be eaten fresh, cooked or dried. They can also be made into a powder or tea. The tender young pods can be eaten raw or cooked. Moringa seeds can be eaten raw or roasted. They can also be pressed for oil.
Moringa can be added to smoothies, soups, stews, and salads.
Moringa is easy to grow in the ground in Zones 9b-11, or can be grown potted or as an annual in colder climates. It is very fast-growing and can reach 20 feet in a year but the more you cut it back, the more leaves are produced for eating.
Growing Tips:
You can start them in pots, but plant them in the ground as soon as possible for maximum growth.
